Travel upriver around the bend and favor the west side for 10 feet depths.

There were 5-6 boats with one boat farther upriver than us. We had great holding with plenty of protection. We should have taken the dinghy farther up a dock to walk the dog. The shoreline along here is all muddy and not easy to take the dog for a walk.

Tensaw River was my "bailout option."
I'm glad I did.
The anchorage is about a mile upstream, as the Tensaw flows INTO the Mobile. Anchor facing toward the Mobile River.
Once I got around the bend, I opted to anchor in about 20' of water on the eastern shore. I had good wind protection E/W, but not N/S. The bottom was mud with good holding. I did not find a stern anchor necessary.
Very poor Verizon service. Just one intermittent 4G bar.
Great anchorage. Will stop again.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Wide and deep, with good holding in mud. Room for lots of boats and passing fishermen kept their distance. Exposed to higher winds, but we found it very calm and peaceful. Did not go ashore.

Found 10' of water toward the south bank right at the first bend off the Temm-Tom with a small sandy bank for pet landing. Shared the anchorage with 6-8 other boats with no crowding. slight current kept us all in line with bow anchors only. Beautiful sunset and stars Anchor was slightly fouled in logs at retrieval. Next time we will stick closer to the center of the channel (15').

We went about a mile up the river and dropped our hook. We used a trip line and anchored in 11 feet of water with 50 feet of chain. We did not use a stern anchor since the river is wide and the current held us in place. We had 2 bars of T Mobile service and felt no wakes during the night. There was plenty of room for 40+ boats. We did not go ashore. Our Rocna Vulcan anchor held well and came up clean.

Anchored in 22' of water, shallower as you go further in, and anchor came up clean. Current is ~1-2mph and holds boat steady, anchor facing the Tombigbee.

Worked out great, came up the river almost a mile, anchored in 12' of water, close to the center . . . Anchor held quickly, came up clean, beautiful surroundings, a few fishing boats came by . . . Had a smaller boat raft up with us for the night, no problems . . . 2 bars on Verizon (and T-Mobile) . . . Limited area to take pets ashore, but available . . . . Exposed to East and West winds . . .

I ran the dog to the boat ramp with dock about 2 miles up the river on the RDB. Probably too far in a slow dinghy, but solved the problem for us.

If coming up from Mobile respect the very long bar that extends out from the southern point between the two rivers. Continue back center channel to the bend in no less than 20 feet of water and find 10 – 15 feet at the back of the bend with good swing room for boats on both shores. We had 5 40'+ boats in the anchorage and had room for plenty more. There is a 1 mph current running from the Tombigbee down the Tensaw the keep all boats properly oriented even with moderate winds. Holding was good as was wake and wind protection. The tree lined shores kept the wind down even when it was blowing 20+ from the west. Shore access is minimal but at low tide (there is a tide), there is a narrow section of beach that appears for the adventurous. Cell signal is adequate with 2 bars for the big three. This is a great stop for moving through Mobile Bay.

Current flows away from the Mobile River so the aft deck was shaded from the afternoon sun. Anchor is holding well and it grabbed right away. Still on the hook so don't know yet how it will come up. I suspect just fine with a little mud on it. Scenery is nice if you like trees. We anchored about 1/2 mile off Mobile river in 20ft of water. No good bank access. It would be difficult to take pets ashore. Cell signal is a little weak. Even with these drawbacks, still a good place to stop for the night.

Plenty of room for lots of boats. We had 5 last night. Current kept us lined up. No swinging. No water noise on the hull. Beautiful spot. Silent night. Anchored in 16' about 1 mile in. Went over one 11 ft hump on our way out but that was the shallowest we saw. Anchor came up easily. Did not try to go to shore so cannot comment on access.
