Called when we were 1/2 mile out. Told us he would open as we approached, which he did. He timed it perfectly. No problem.

We lucked out today- best news ever that the bridge is being repaired and remains in open position until mid-June. Most challenging bridge tender on the ICW- always questions our height and asks for documentation info, threatens fines. Very difficult to deal with!

NOT at all a smooth experience. The bridge tender challenged our boat height and told us to put our antennae down (even though our electronics mast height STILL required a bridge opening.) He did not acknowledge that he planned to open the bridge. The tide board indicated a clearance of 23 ft not 27 ft. WHO IS THIS GUY?!

Many thanks to the operator of this bridge He had it opened in time for us to go right under. Called when we were in the channel and visible to him. There was current flowing thru channel making it a bit squirrelly. ALL the fishing boats moved aside for us as we came thru….. PS, they said they are fishing Reds.

The bridge height is supposedly 27 feet AT THE CENTER when closed. The board at the bridge showed 23 feet when we went through at mid tide yesterday. That's apparently for the lowest part of the bridge.

Still no tide board heading East but board on other side showed 22.5' one hour after low tide. We clear 21' and had no issues other than sloooooowly dodging many manatees

Bridge is being rehabilitated. East 1/2 bascule held open, west span had repair structure hanging underneath reducing clearance 3 ft or so

The bridgetender asked me when I asked for the opening if I was the captain. As a 100 ton captain and a female, I don't appreciate his inference that we didn't need a bridge opening. He made me spell my home port twice, spell my name twice, give documentation number then gave the standard line that he was going to report me to the Coast Guard for an unnecessary opening. With our windfinder we are almost 25 feet. It read 23 on the scale in front. What a chauvinistic jerk!
