There are two zones here,
Blue zone (alongside docks - western end) is free from 8am to 10pm - with a fee (by foot) for overnight dockage
The yellow zone is reservation only with a fee (finger docks)
For each there is a notice board with a URL to pay the fee (it is a town dock, but the charges are managed via the marina ValleyField)
There is a small grocery store nearby however if you take the walk to the mall to the North (not too far at all) then you can use the Maxi supermarket and return to the dock with the shopping cart (unload and rerun the cart to the store)View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Free Dock Review for Port Colborne City Dock

The town at first feels a bit run down, but don't be put off. Free floating docks (mostly for smaller boats) with a couple of 80' T heads, provided by town. Located at south end of Welland Canal, just south of the lift bridge (bridge number 8) on West side of waterway. No facilities (no water, no power, seasonal bathrooms in day time). Boaters can clear Canadian customs from here (phone +1888-CANPASS) and can stay overnight. Access to town (supermarket, laundry, restaurants, etc). No time limit posted, boaters regularly stay overnight (waiting for canal passage). Bathrooms open from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving. Overflow along wall. Ashore there are plenty of meal options, plus a candy store from the 40's (Safari Candy) well worth a visit. The local Historical and Maritime Museum (free) has a small display of some of the area industry (surprisingly good) and various buildings showing the homes and industries of the early settlers.

Anchorage Review for Flowerpot Island - Beachy Cove
Reviewed by: Maryanne on Aug 8, 2023
Vessel Type: Sail
LOA: 38'
Draft: 0.0'Overall Rating:5Note this is the only island in the fathom five chain where it is permitted to go ashore (yay). However to take your own boat/kayak/dinghy requires a (free) permit available from the national park visitor center in Tobermory.
Plenty of trails ashore
Keep clear of the busy tourist boat traffic
Currently (2023) the dock is out of action (storm damage) and there is no repair plans in the calendar as yetView location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Free Dock Review for Lock E35, Lockport - Free Dock

Wall (1.2m depth, shallows closer to the old locks) just alongside the outside of Lock 35 - sheltered with high walls all around. Tie to wooden posts. Right in the middle of things town-wise. You basically dock at the top of the original canal flight (a flight of 5 now unused/replace by the modern flight of 2). Power available (no water). Be sure to use spring lines to counter the currents every time the lock empties.

Lovely small town with a welcome centre, book swap box, showers (25c to enter), water and power at docks (floating and wall) - honesty box for power.
In town (across river) there are at least 20 restaurants/bars. (Riverside dining, diners, Chinese, Mexican, etc) 24 Hour laundromat, ace hardware store and a couple of auto parts store (that will take your used oil)
there is an Aldi and Tops about a mile walk from lock. (South side)View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Entered end may 2023 - very shallow (3' at min), but seemed to be mud bottom when we hit.
I was here 20 years ago and it seemed a little uncomfortable (security wise) then
This trip we decided to be aboard all evening, but went for a great walk in the day along the creek trail (which is pretty and saves you having to cross main roads) into town and had an AMAZING meal at dinosaur BBQ
Water was off at docks but the only other boat there was using power (we didn't need power so didn't try).
Unfortunately someone untied out lines (4 lines) while we slept and we found ourselves adrift/aground in the shallows at 6:15 this morning - we were lucky we didn't make it all the way to the bridge and damage the boat/bridge
Such a shame this beautiful location cannot be enjoyed.
If you do visit - be wary!!!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

A friendly town which is especially kind to boaters with the 'rose buddies' and a welcome pack.
Be sure to check in your welcome pack for discounts and even offers of a ride or a loaner car
Hardware and grocery stores within a mile. And plenty of cafes, bakeries, bars and restaurants
The nearby Arbemarle Museum (just a couple of blocks away) is free, airily and really well presented with a history of the area over the ages.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
