The one problem of this spot near G21 is the number of boats during the day that zip past us, without slowing down at all. SO, we neglected to comment on that last time we reviewed this spot, but it is the single most unfortunate characteristic about this anchorage, in our opinion. It is fine after dark... so simply plan to arrive late in the day!

There are no trees around... only swamp land. SO, limited protection from wind. While one can anchor off the ICW, there is a fair amount of small boat traffic (18-24 foot center consoles and runabouts) that won't slow down for a slow pass during the day. So, this is a great anchorage to pull in to LATE in the day! ... and leave before the traffic starts up!
The marsh land will knock down some fetch. Holding is good. You'll swing with the tide.
It IS a decent anchorage in an area where there are few to pick from. We never ventured further away than near G21 to see if it was any better. The water depth is accurately shown on the charts. From the ICW, you are technically heading OUT to sea. So red is on the left / green on right as you enter from the ICW.
We left Carolina Beach State Park very early today to ensure we had good tide water beneath us for their channel. UNFORTUNATELY that meant we were here at 10:30am and had lots of wake / traffic during the day. Perhaps we should have continued on to the anchorage at Mile Hammock mm 244.5.
This not a "bad" anchorage. I suspect we'll stay here again, because it IS in a good location.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

This anchorage happens in a very opportune location where there are not a lot of anchoring choices. We stayed there in late Oct 2022, and plan to again this week as we head north past this same area. We'll make some more observations this second time around.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
