Marina Review for Henry Harbor Marina

I really enjoyed my stay at Henry Harbor marina, they have new owners who are working very hard to improve the marina, due to low water we were tied at the rustic old block wall in the channel which was very well protected and I thought was really neat with stone block and rebar rings to tie to, they had porta potties, water and electric for us. This is all stated in their description so there were no surprises. Fran messaged several times, With pictures and a good description. Really enjoyed my time here would love to come back!

One of the nicest marinas I have been to on my five month trip. Very nice new docks, New marina office with very nice restrooms and showers, and a pool with a BYOB tiki bar! A few restaurants within walking distance, a bit of a hike to the main town on the other side of the river. I will definitely stay here again, very nice dock hands were here to help me tie up!

I stayed for one night on the wall, the north south wall on the west side of their docks. This is a very nice marina, easy to get in and out, plenty of dock hands to help, and a reasonable price, with great clean restrooms, and easy access to the downtown area of Fish Creek. A very nice stop over I would definitely stop again. Note that they charge less for the wall and it has power and water also, they do allow 2 hr transient dockage there for people to visit the town.

Marina Review for Hammond Bay State Harbor (Harbor of Refuge)

I stopped here at Hammond Bay as a jump off point to cross to Drummond Island. This is a very small marina and it's only staffed part time. To check in and get the restroom and shower codes you need to use the yellow phone on the wall by the office door. It says there is pump out available by prior arrangement. There is no fuel. The docks are fixed, With posts and cleats. There appears to be plenty of room to anchor in the harbor if the slips are full. There is a Verizon signal, but not very strong. There is no Wi-Fi. The restrooms and showers appear to be very well-maintained and very clean.

Free Dock Review for City Pier Park-Dunkirk Harbor

There are steel walls and as the other reviewers have stated the metal goes in and out and you have to be careful to position your fenders to stay out of the gaps. The north part of the west wall has adequate water and more protection from the north to north east wind. The east wall about halfway down has wooden vertical posts on the outside of the steel for about 60 feet, so one large vessel or two small could probably tie up there and have more protection from the wall. No power, no restrooms. Several good restaurants within walking distance.

The staff here was very helpful, but the facility is in poor repair. They tried to put me two different finger slips on A dock, the most western dock, that had unprotected metal brackets jutting out, I refused. Eventually found safe docking on face dock just north of travellift, behind commercial fishing vessel. Power worked fine, restrooms useable but were a bit rough. With this marina in it's current condition I would only stay here if I could dock on the Face dock north of the travel lift.

Marina Response:
Thank you for your feedback. Please ask for the walkway in the future. This is the preferred dock you mentioned. In the meantime, we are addressing the slips you mentioned and removing the metal brackets.

Due to the terrible reviews on the other marina in Dunkirk, I called the yacht club to see if they could accommodate me for a stopover of one night, I was told that if I was not a current member of a yacht club they could not accommodate me because they could not be competition for the marina.

Great Experience at this marina! Nice facilities restrooms, showers, laundry, they even have a courtesy car now. Very protected harbor although it is a bit of a run up the creek from the Chesapeake Bay. Stayed here for five nights due to bad weather on the bay. Onancock Is a very nice small town with some good restaurants, and super friendly people. Will definitely stop here again!

What a great unique stop over. I agree with everything Robert said on the last review about the seafood. The people here are super, but there is no help docking. I docked on the north docks just south of the main office. If you look at the satellite shot of this place you will see a boat ramp south of the buildings, there are docs south of the boat ramp in North of the boat ramp. There was electricity, but it was 110 V, household plug. There may be 30 amp on the south docks, and by South Docks, I mean south of the boat ramp, but there were quite a few locals fishing and crabbing off of those docs, so it was a little more private being just a little north of the boat ramp. The restrooms are inside the seafood and Marine supply store, and are only open business hours 8am-5pm. The Wi-Fi worked fine.16-25 count frozen shrimp were $10.50/#. By the way all the Shrimp here will be frozen as their fishing boats flash freeze right after they are caught. This is according to Mark, one of the guys that works at the seafood market.
