    Protected anchorage but a lot of waves from the south. If the wind is not from the south, but from the east or west, your boat will rock excessively. You will have to anchor close to shore unless you have a long rode (350’ or more) to get a proper scope ratio. There is a very quick transition between the 3-6 feet depth around shore vs the 35-80 foot depth in the middle. Lake Michigan is at a very high water level currently so check your charts low datum point vs actual lake levels. You should be able to get much closer to shore then the charts readings.
    There is a good restaurant and bar “Knot just a bar” that you can dinghy to.
