Nice marina tucked away from everything if that is what you like. They have a great pool. Beware that the gate closes to the marina at the driveway so make sure you get the code before leaving.

A quiet marina located at the west end Sandusky has a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The unmarked approach to its entrance is generally 10ft water depth. Restrooms are clean and a grade better than most marina facilities. WIFI is excellent and security is controlled via one gate to the marina which requires a VOB from the office. With fairways exceeding 50ft, it has floating wood piers with 30/50 amp, and water services. Fuel (gas only), pumpout, and dock assistance is available; in advance call marina on channel 69. Walking west about 8 minutes from the marina is a bar-grille, an additional 10 minutes is the C Toft Ice Cream Parlor. Walking east about 20 minutes is Cobbs burger and ice cream, Pizza House, and a coin-operated/drop-off laundry. The latter is an alternative to the free marinas washing and dryer machines adjacent to the restrooms. Two to three mile walk east from the marina is downtown Sandusky.

Safe Harbor Sandusky Marina is a quiet marina at the far end of the harbor. We came in on a Saturday Afternoon and the harbor traffic was quite heavy with everything from a 600 foot long coal carrier to jet skis. The marina is located just beyond an active coal dock with boats and trains actively using the pier. Approach depths were 10 feet or greater and we never had less than 8 feet in the marina so concern about depths as marked on Garmin and Aquamaps is not an issue. Maneuvering in the marina was easy as the fairways are wide and our slip was extra-wide.

Pros: With promotion discount the overnight was very inexpensive. They preassigned the slip, provided a marina map and info by email and it was an easy in and out. The marina is well protected from surge and wakes. It was quiet after the Saturday Night band finished at 10 so we had an excellent night's sleep. . Free laundry is a plus as is the pool. New and clean bathrooms and showers were appreciated. The grounds were well cared for as well. The marina was having a Saturday Night Parrot Head party with free Caribbean mixers available (you supply your favorite adult beverage.) Cellular signals were good for AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

Cons: No one responded to the radio on arrival and there was nobody from the marina on the dock when or after we arrived. Friendly neighbors were on hand and, as we had a pre-assigned slip and map, we managed with no problems. Old boards on the dock are being replaced but the docks are somewhat tired. Electric is questionable at best. Our pedestal did not work. The breaker cover was screwed shut so, if it were working we would have plugged into a hot receptacle. . The slip next to us reported 105 - 110 volts. Several people said that power was a big issue at the marina. Water pressure was poor: less than 1 gpm. There is a nice dog area but the Doggie Doo-Doo Dump had not been emptied for a while. We connected to the marina wifi but the system was not connected to the internet when we tried.

Nice Marina and the staff are very helpful. The pool is well heated and clean. The only negative is that the wood planks on the docks are aging and can cause major splinters. ALWAYS wear shoes and don't drag your feet.
