Hancock Marina is fantastic. As stated by another reviewer, 'Chesapeake meets New England'. Floating docks run parallel to current of tidal river; 30A & 50A service, water, fuel, laundry, ice, basic bathrooms & showers. Dockmasters Scott and Jeff are salty professionals and expertly assist with everything from docking assistance in often stiff currents to emergency tows from Delaware Bay & dives to clear tangled lines. These are just a few of the tasks I watched as these pros assisted boaters. The Bait Box bar & restaurant is open weekends and draws hundreds from all over with good food and live music. Outdoor & indoor dining. Shoprite & Amazon delivers to dock. Weekdays are nice, peaceful and private with a few liveaboards and permanent RVers. Solitude during weekdays, lively party on weekends, great people and amenities. This marina has it all.

We draw 7.5 ft. Coming from cape May we rounded the ship John a shoal light on our starboard and weaved our way around the chart contours to "1C", the FIXED Green mark (a small truss structure at low tide stands 10+feet high ). Following Navionics maps for Raymarine we followed the middle of the marked channel moving at 2 knots.
The lowest depth we saw was 8 ft. Between the green "1C" and just before we entered the river 10/12/2022.
We then followed the river in its middle up to Hancock Harbor 3.7 miles. It was atleast 15 ft deep the whole way at low tide.
There is a beautiful seasonal restaurant and the rural marsh meets farmland is classic New England meets Chesapeake, We pulled our vessel their for a short haul to do some work and noted how active the gas dock and marina was. Imho worth a stop or a stay.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

For the Delaware Bay/River run from Cape May to the C&D canal, this is really your only real alternative. This is a working boatyard with floating docks parallel to the stream of the river. (Be advised that early migrators should check to see if the docks are in if planning on landing here before May 1. Due to the strong current and ice all the pilings holding the floating docks are reset each year. I arrived on April 20th, and only a few pilings had been set.) There is deep water all the way to the docks. The owner took me in from a stormy Delaware even though he was not yet open. Provided me with laundry (no charge) electricity and water. I was out of food so the owner arranged a ride for me to the nearest grocery (nothing except the Baitbox restaurant is within walking distance). The owner went out of his way to take care of me. The current is strong here so plan on going into the docks against the current, there is plenty of turning room. The spot is peaceful and low key. Looking forward to a return trip. Wifi could have been stronger - only minus (Weak wifi true of most spots)
