Port Hope, just west of Cobourg, is an industrial port with a historic district of restored homes and mansions from the 1800s. Quaint shops, galleries, theater and restaurants are scattered throughout the town.
There is a white sandy beach just east of the marina. Century-old houses line the picturesque and tranquil shores, along with towering old trees. The majesty of some of the houses recalls the days when Newcastle was a busy and wealthy commercial port.
