Anchorage Review for Dunmore Town- Harbour Island

The anchorages are good for all but heavy west winds. There is some filly action due to small boat traffic but it's not too bad. Going ashore requires taking the dinghy to the beach next to government dock. You cannot land on the dock itself, so be prepared for the beach landing. No surf though.

We had over 30 knots of wind and holding was good. A lot of other boats use this anchorage. There is a beach to go shore but nothing else.

Well protected from southerlies. Only downside is a lot of motorboat traffic comes through regularly making it rocky on occasion.

They have a great public dinghy dock but not much in infrastructure beyond that. There is a mini market but you will need a car or taxi to access other resources. There is a very good but expensive restaurant nearby called Front Porch. Food is great but drinks miss the mark.

They do not have a public dock, so accessing the beach can be a non starter if the wind is from the wrong direction. If you want quality shore access via dinghy use the French Leave dock and patronize their services for that privilege.

Do not treat this like a marina, it's more of a private dinghy dock for those who patronize the hotel, restaurant and bar. They loaned us a golf cart to take to the nearby pink sand beach, which the hotel also owns a part of. Great experience and fantastic property.

They will find space in the resort if you need to get out of the weather.
