Easy to set our Mantus in the soft mud bottom, and it came up clean when I jerked the chain with the boat pole. Can't comment on shore access - we went in at sunset and left at sunrise. A fine place to rest overnight.

Marina Review for Clearwater Municipal Marinas (Clearwater Harbor Marina)

This fine marina has floating docks, easy access to the pumpout stations, 50 amp shore power, great showers, and laundry facilities. It is a beautiful setting within easy walking distance of Downtown Clearwater. The staff is very helpful, and there's always someone on duty and on call at the office.
There are a couple of things to consider before deciding whether this is the marina for you.
First, there is a massive construction project underway that will not be completed until summer 2023. Be prepared for lots of construction noise during the work week. In addition, this throws a lot of dust in the air, so be prepared to wash your boat every other day, a need compounded by all the birds and gulls that swarm the boats in the afternoons.
Of greater concern to some boaters is the fact that it is a LONG walk of 300+ yards from the transient slips to the office, showers, and laundry. Plus, if you rent a car while you're here, parking is a long way off, several blocks away from entrance tot he marina.
There is only one washer and one dryer that cost $2 each, so you're looking at $4 to do a single load of laundry.
Despite these few shortcomings, I'd definitely stay here again when I pass thru Clearwater.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Anchorage Review for Apalachicola

Draft: 5.0'Overall Rating:3Holding:5Wind Protection:2Current Flow:2Wake Protection:2Scenic Beauty:3Ease of Shopping:2Shore Access:2Cell Service:2Good holding on mud bottom. You're in the Apalachicola River current, and no protection from winds. Very little traffic so it's a quiet anchorage. Shore access is by dinghy to the Battery Park (Municipal) Marina. Plenty of places there to tie up and it's a few blocks walk to restaurants, the post office, and about 1/2 mile to the supermarket.
A scenic river town that still shows damage from Hurricane Michael (2018). A quiet place to visit for a few days.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
