Bridge comment on Dania Beach Boulevard (SR A1A) Bridge

The operator of this bridge on Sunday Sept 20, 2020 at 4pm was a person named Pete. He basically dropped the bridge on our vessel super unnecessarily. Two vessels crossed before us. We were about to cross and noticed that the bridge started closing as soon as we made our approach and had to reverse to play it safe. He claimed that since we didn't call through the vhf, that he can't assume anything. But in doing so he made a dangerous decision to drop the bridge, just to prove a point that we didn't call. I saw it unnecessary to call since we were clearly in line with the other previous vessels. We then had to wait 25min in the current waters. It was an unpleasant experience.
