Chose this marina sight unseen, because it was somewhat affordable & close to where we wanted to leave the boat while we went home for a bit. Restaurant on site has good food & cheap drinks. Docks are in disrepair & there are several broken off pilings around. There is no retail in walking or biking distance, besides a 7-11 convenience store about a 1/2 mile away.

This is a great little free stop-over. A little bridge/traffic noise, but we're all by ourselves on the dock. Dock is in good condition right off of the park & museum. The signs say that it's free for up to 48 hours. We probably won't venture far tonight, except to walk our pet coati.

The worst part of downtown Georgetown in a sailboat is the narrow shallow channel getting in. Plan your arrival for high tide, if possible. We never drug with our 5' draft, but the depth alarm went off constantly. Charming little town with an abundance of history. No big box retail near harbor, but plenty of places to eat & drink. Nearest coin laundry was about .6 of a mile away. Holding was good with our 65 lb. Mantus M2, but there was no wind or current. We'll see about the, "Baby poop" mud when we haul the anchor tomorrow.

So we didn't heed the warnings about debris on the bottom here, but we found it. Our anchor wasn't fouled, but our chain seriously was. It took some creative motoring & windlassing to get it free. As convenient as this spot was, never again!

I have to agree that it's a very nice marina, but it really doesn't cater to the middle class cruiser. We anchored in the lagoon near OPC for a few nights while we replaced our windlass. I do plan on buying fuel & water from them when we depart in the AM. In the meantime, we only needed a few bags of ice, so I dinghied into the marina to get it. We have a new, very good looking Takacat & motor, mind you. I was given the feeling by the staff that I was a 2nd rate person & generally felt looked down upon because I wasn't on a mega-yacht. Our only other experience at a Safe Harbor marina was in Marathon, FL. They were great!

I probably shouldn't write this while I'm here, but here goes. The state park is very nice with a nice little marina, but that's where the positive ends. The water was not clear enough to be able to see sandy patches to try anchor in. Anchoring was nearly impossible. Then we're anchored between 2 bridges that would certainly dismast us if we were to break loose. The current and waves are atrocious. If we & our boat survive this night, we're never coming back here!

We anchored a little North of the market. The anchorage was extremely packed, but everyone seemed to be considerate of others boats. We had no problem anchoring. A lot of traffic; everything from parasail boats to excursion schooners to tikis to cruise ships. A lot of apparently derelict boats. A short dinghy ride to Key West & all of it's fun. All-in-all, we like it & will stay until we have to move because of wind or waves.

OMG. That was a terrible night. A storm blew in off of the mainland at dusk and the wind & waves didn't stop all night (they still haven't stopped now @ 0800, either). We went there by land to eat dinner. The restaurant was awesome. Great ambiance, service, and food. A golf cart transported us from the parking area to the restaurant and we walked back. Marina appeared to be nice, clean, and full.

The previous review was spot-on. Our previous sailboat was docked there before we were able to move it to Blood River Landing. Country atmosphere, good store, fuel dock, boat launch, camp sites.

Great place. Our previous project sailboat was docked there. Good security. Laid-back country atmosphere. Don't miss the Tickfaw 200. Owned by Joey Fontenot, a great guy!

We visited Maximo this month to have lunch at their restaurant while on a recon mission to see where we would be going on the following day for a haul-out portion of the survey on the boat that we were buying.

The server at the restaurant was very nice, but the service was slow. The food and drinks were very good. Don't miss the ribs!

The marina was full and no slips were available; I asked.

The haul-out was delayed a little while a hydraulic line was replaced on the lift, but after that all went smoothly. The boat yard looked, well like a boatyard. Everything else about the marina appeared top notch and I would certainly rent a slip there, were one available.
