We had great both AT&T and T-Mobile service. The scenery was gorgeous. It was quiet. Anchored in 22' east of the boat ramp. Anchor came out clean. Was nice to get through the Heflin Lock and have a close anchorage nearby and an easy run to Demopolis the following day.

The manager her was so helpful from the time he saw us on the Tem-Tom, he spoke instructions to us through the channel to the marina. He also gave us information for the locks, recommended a great anchorage for us to throw the hook out past the Heflin Lock, and was so upbeat.

Marina Review for Safe Harbor Aqua Yacht

We had a great experience at Aqua. We had our trawler on the hard for maintenance and, due to a family emergency, the crew accommodated us and kept on working. Tony, Chris, Markas, David, Dennis…were all thorough, friendly and customer focused. We got the boat on the hard and they started working immediately! And kept on working. The marina itself was easy in and easy out, friendly bunch of boat owners, and very aware of us Loopers. We highly recommend this place!

The harbor master, Scott, was concerned for both his docks and our boat. Originally we were to tie up on the t-head, which we prefer. However, due to the wind that was to be approaching, he came out to the dock once arriving and said he was not comfortable with our location. We spent some time looking for an alternative for our 70,000 lb boat to tie up to. We agreed to dock next to the cemented barge once they moved a boat adjacent to it. Very accommodating. And, the next day was the annual antique wooden boat show, farmer's market, and customer appreciation dinner at the marina. SCORE! This marina has a close knit community and very friendly.

The Marina was great. Unfortunately, we had to dock at the high wall across the Marina between the Italian restaurant and the Ice Cream Parlor. We had people gawking at our boat all day and all night. Felt very exposed! Thankfully, our friends met us at the wall and we were able to throw our lines to them as it took some time for the marina help to arrive by car, park and help from when we had called at the lighthouse.

The cleanest bathrooms of any marina we have stayed at thus far. Yannis Restaurant was delicious. Pete, the manager, was super helpful. Friendly atmosphere. Clean docks, offices, kitchen, laundry, shop…highly recommend. The only negative is it is skinny getting to the docks. We have a 3' draft so it was manageable at low tide. Pete will talk you through though.

This is a privately owned marina. Andrew, the owner, is super friendly and went out of his way to offer us help. This is a quiet dockage away from downtown Kingston but we were able to ride our electric bikes to town with no problem. We rented a car for the day and went to the Airodrone in Rhinebeck, CIA, FDR musuem and home and finished the day with Maverick at the theater.

Arrive early to assure a spot. There is a large sand bar in the center but the channel is well marked. We took our dinghy to the shore across from the Life Guard station and walked across the road - easy access to gulf side beach which is white sands and crystal clear water!!
