Review for McAcan Bend

LOA: 48'
Draft: 5.0'Overall Rating:3Holding:4Wind Protection:3Current Flow:3Wake Protection:2Scenic Beauty:2Cell Service:2This anchorage is primarily for emergency use. It is in the river and near the marked channel. Only a combination of being right up against shore on the inside edge of a curve makes this even something to consider. At daymark 243.3 turn into the current and head upriver slowly moving over towards RDB until you are in 7 to 9 feet of water and out of the majority of the current. Make sure that you have room to drop back as you set your anchor. Consider throwing out a stern anchor towards shore to keep your stern from being pulled out towards the channel by a passing tow. There are no amenities here but you do have minimal ATT and Verizon cell coverage so that you can communicate with the outside world. Stay well illuminated and keep your AIS transponder on if so equipped. Inform passing tows of your situation and the word will be spread of your presence.
