Leave the AICW south of Green "27" and go one mile west to enter Little Bear Creek in 10 feet of water. There are no markers but the winding channel is properly indicated on both Garmin and Aqua Map charts. There is a minimum of 8 foot depth referencing the "Bay River at Bayboro NOAA water gauge." Crab pots are present during the season.

The anchorage has sufficient space for swing room and enough room for four or five boats to anchor. Holding is good in mud and our anchor did not budge through the night with 20 mph shifting winds pulling at the chain. Wave protection is very good north/south but only good east/west as there is more fetch in those directions. Even with our winds the waves never had a chance to build to anything that might be uncomfortable. The only boats in the area are crabbers and they don't normally create wake. There are no predictable currents in the area but water does move around with the winds some when there is some room. This creek is not a place where currents can build up.

Shoreline is private or marsh so shore access for humans and hounds is not available nearby. Cell reception is very good. Little Bear Creek is a good spot to break up a longer trip from Oriental to Belhaven. It is quiet and far enough off the AICW to avoid wakes from early and late movers.

Good holding with 8-9' of water. Wind current only so that kept us in the same position all night. Beautiful area. No channel markers so we had to use our Garmin 100%. Not a problem!

There was shore access for our dog but it was difficult to find. Most of the shore is just marsh grass. Wind and waves woke us in the morning. Sprint phones had great reception and internet access. A few houses on the shore. Not much to see. Land surrounding the creek just flat. Peaceful--there were no other boats anchored the night we were there. Difficult to enter/exit.

Nice wide spot with plenty of deep water. WiFi service mostly sketchy Remote area. Mosquitos after sunset.
No shore access noted and we came in at low tide. Mosquitos after sunset were an issue.

You will need to use your chartplotter to enter this anchorage as the channel is unmarked. It is easy to enter using the chartplotter and makes a great ICW stop. Scenic, good holding, protected from North and West winds. Good Verizon coverage but no AT&T coverage. The shoreline is very swampy but there is a tiny beach available for the dog if desperate.
