Fabulous stay!
I'm not sure where all the bad press came from (Trip Advisor), it is certainly not deserved. IIt is NOT run down. In fact it is very well kept, clean and brightly painted. The staff was very friendly and the owners were too. Yes, JR's husband tragically passed a few years ago, but she, her son Je-sea and the staff, most who have worked here for many years are running and providing an excellent value and experience for all their guests. It is like a community, and you will become part of it.
We are cruising on a 38' cat. The weather took a turn for the worse and we needed a safe harbor. There aren't many places with the type of protection (360°) Hawk's Nest offers. On short notice they took us in. Their annual Wahoo Championship was going on so the marina was quite full with all sorts of sport-fishers, big and not so big. There were also a couple of sailboats and cruisers. The fishermen in the tournament were fun and we met many new cruising friends. We met several guests who were staying at the resort as well. No one had a bad word about Hawk's Nest.
The honor bars at Sharkey's and at the resort restaurant were unusual, but welcome. They have a system and it works. Prices were not crazy, although I think the restaurant is a bit pricy. The food was typical Bahamian fare and very well prepared. The resort has a pool and beach which we were able to use. The ocean view is quite nice.
I highly recommend Hawk's Nest. You won't be disappointed.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
