DESCRIPTION: General/Bridges/Conversion From: 2024-10-29 To: 2025-04-27 Location: 32.062044° N / 81.02951° W Bridge Name: CR 787 (Island Expressway) Drawbridges Construction on the first of the two high level fixed bridges is complete and now spans the waterway providing 65 feet of vertical clearance and 100 feet of horizontal clearance between the fender systems. Construction of the second high level fixed bridge has begun. Work hours are 7 am. - 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. During this time, there will be intermittent work inside and outside the federal channel. Mariners operating commercial/recreational vessels greater than 50ft in breath/beam requiring full width of the federal navigational channel, are strongly encouraged to call Myrick Marine at 912-210-6778 up to 24 hours in advance, but not less than one hour before arrival to the construction area to coordinate safe passage. Once in the vicinity of the Causton Bluff Bridge, please contact the LONA MYRICK or GRACE MYRICK by VHF to verify your scheduled passage. If applicable, please have your Automated Information System (AIS) energized. In addition, there will be a Myrick Marine safety boat in the vicinity of the construction area for traffic management. The safety boat can be reached on channel 10 or 13. The old bascule bridges have been removed from the waterway. Mariners are reminded to proceed through the construction area at a safe speed, always maintain situational awareness, and monitor VHF radio channel 16 when in the vicinity of the Causton Bluff Bridge.
