Cheatham Lock, CRM 148.7, will be closed to Navigation traffic for scheduled repairs from 10 March 2025 to 29 May 2025. Lock Maintenance Personnel will be preforming preparations for the maintenance window during the week of 3 March 2025. These preparations could result in a necessary lock stall up to 4 hours but are not expected to significantly impact Navigation traffic. The Regional Rivers Repair Fleet will arrive at Cheatham Lock on 5 March 2025 and will occupy the upstream mooring cells beginning 5 March 2025 through 29 May 2025. During this period, there will be interim lock openings to allow Navigation traffic to pass. Interim openings will begin at 1800 hrs. on the first day of the opening window and end at 0600 hrs. on the last day of the opening window. See table below for interim openings. High Water/High Discharge Procedures during the scheduled openings:
In the event of discharges at or exceeding 75,000 cfm during scheduled openings, tows may lock 15 barges provided an industry provided helper boat is available to assist the tow through the lock. The vessel must be at least 2000 HP and will pull cuts both upstream and downstream. When a vessel departs Northbound from Cheatham Lock, the helper boat will shadow the tow from lock departure until the tow clears the bend above Cheatham Lock at CRM 149.3
