Deal Island, MD
Deal Island is one of the last outposts of old-time Eastern Shore life. Although the 25-foot vertical clearance Deal Island Road Bridge connects Deal to the mainland, the island receives less publicity than the remote Smith and Tangier Islands and, consequently, little tourist traffic. You can observe a few remaining working skipjacks and the photographic possibilities are endless. This is an island that is best visited by car via the mainland. There are no marine facilities or viable anchorages here.
