Green Turtle Cay - White Sound

  • Location: Abacos
  • Lat / Lon: N 26° 46.802' / W 077° 20.189'
  • Depth: 7-10 Feet
  • Tide: 2.0'-2.5'
  • Description:

If you wish to anchor in White Sound, the best holding is found just south and east of the docks at the Green Turtle Club. The bottom is silty and care must be taken to ensure that your anchor has reached the clay base, especially if heavy weather is expected. The area of good holding is not very large and to remain clear of the docks and the moorings, there is only room for 1 or 2 boats.

It is best to take a slip in White Sound or a mooring if you are confident about its condition. Anchoring should be considered only as a distant third option.

DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
