Little Bay Harbour Island

  • Location: Harbour Island
  • Lat / Lon: N 25° 30.924' / W 076° 38.304'
  • Depth: 6+
  • Description:

Anchor in 5-8 ft MLW. We anchored just inside the Explorer Charts 1.5 meter line and found about 6 ft MLW. This anchorage provides good wind protection from NE to SE winds. Some chop with South winds, but was very tenable with winds gusting to 16 knots from the South. Holding is excellent in deep sand. You should have no problems setting an anchor here. There is shore access at a dirt road just east of the anchorage. Look for the sandy beaches and the rock pile/wood fence. Dinghy in just to the right of the wood fence and take the road up to the main road. There's a white wood fence on the right side of the road marking private residences all the way up to the main road. Turn left at the main road to walk to the northernmost point of the island and a view of "The Narrows" and Jacobs Island. Turn right at the main road to walk about 1 mile towards town and access the famous pink sand beaches. We've posted lots of photos at https://www.facebook.com/100063618668322/posts/pfbid0NLxzhwdsepYfs8R3ANM6R6R5EMGBLsZE54rRVFSQDW1aR3p55ywmebsdQcDF3jbYl/?

DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
