- Description:
The Little Galliot Cay anchorage is a good location for vessels wishing to stop to wait for better conditions to exit Galliot Cut. In settled conditions there is acceptable protection for prevailing easterly winds, however it is open to all other directions. The bottom is hard close to the cay so one must anchor further out in the band of dark grass that encircles the cay. There are some patches of sand within the grass band, however as a temporary stop, the grass will provide adequate holding in settled conditions. If you plan to stay longer than a few hours, or if there are higher winds forecast, you are better off at Big Galliot Cay which is only 0.50 nm away.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
