Oyster Cay (East)
- Location: Northern Exuma
- Lat / Lon: N 24° 41.824' / W 076° 49.437'
- Depth: 10'-15'
- Tide: 2.0'-2.5'
- Description:
On the east side of Oyster Cay there is room for 1-2 vessels in a pocket of sand immediately to the south along the east side of the cay. The anchorage is bounded by Oyster Cay to the west and a sand bar to the east which knocks down the waves that sweep in from Exuma sound. While not ideal in winds above 20 knots from the east, it is a viable alternative to the inside of Allans Cay as protection from the W-NE winds of a cold front. Once the winds shift back into an easterly trade wind pattern it is time to leave.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
