Rotten Bay/Lower Bogue
- Location: North Eleuthera
- Lat / Lon: N 25° 26.447' / W 076° 42.032'
- Depth: 6'-9'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.5'
- Description:
Rotten Bay lives up to its name as there is only protection from the north. In any other wind direction the shallow water combined with relatively long fetch makes the anchorage lively in winds over 15 knots. It is the closest anchorage to North Eleuthera airport and is a viable choice for those picking up or dropping off crew. For an airport run, it is best to have a taxi pre-arranged, but if not you can arrange one at Johnson’s Grocery which is about 0.25nm up the road in the direction of the cell tower.
There is a solid public dock but there is only enough water alongside for a vessel drawing < 3’.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
