Sugarloaf Cay
- Location: Abaco
- Lat / Lon: N 26° 32.957' / W 077° 02.051'
- Depth: 6'-9'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
The anchorage in the area between Sugar Loaf Cay and The Crossing, which is the narrow strip of land extending out from Marsh Harbour towards John Cash Point provides very good protection from the NW-NE. For shallower drafted vessels it is a viable choice to ride out a cold front. The downside for this anchorage is that the Albury Ferry dock is located on the western edge of the area. One can expect the “Donnie Boats”, -all of Albury Ferries are named Donnie-, to blast past the anchorage at speed throwing large wakes as they pass. At high tide it is possible to carry 7’ between Sugar Loaf Cay on the South and Matt Lowe Cay on the north.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
