Shearpin Cay/Tilloo Bank
- Lat / Lon: N 26° 26.550' / W 076° 59.450'
- Depth: 8'-12'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
Anywhere along the shores of Tilloo Cay provides acceptable protection for winds from the east. The holding is good and there is surprisingly little chop even in easterly winds as high as 20 knots. If the winds are south of east an interesting anchorage is the area south of Shearpin Cay on the south end of Tilloo where the Tilloo Bank will block wave action.
It is a large area and even if there are neighboring vessels anchored there is little reason to be within 0.25nm another vessel.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
