- Description: Cayo Alcatracito is the anchorage of choice for deeper-draft vessels in the Cinco Balas Group. With careful pilotage and a bow watch, it is possible to accommodate vessels drawing as much as 4m. The anchorage is fairly exposed and is subject to swells that roll in when the wind shifts south of east, but it is quite settled when the winds are NE. See Waterway Guide Cuba for details on navigation and approaches.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
