- Description:
Snake Cay is a tiny lump of rock tucked in on the south side of Great Stirrup Cay in an area known as Panton Cove. There are very few places in the Berrys that offer total protection from a cold front; this anchorage is about as close as it gets. The anchorage is narrow and tide restricted for most vessels drawing over 4', meaning that you should enter on the high tide and once inside you are committed to staying at least until the next high tide. It is only large enough for 1 to 2 vessels and the entrance is intricate but the protection from the elements is excellent.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
