- Description:
Williams Cay is the southern half of Lee Stocking Island. Although they are technically the same land mass, the only way to get from one end to the other is by boat, or by hiking cross country along ungroomed trails. The anchorage is well protected from N-SE and is surrounded by nearly drying sand bars which prevent large waves from entering the anchorage when the wind shifts.
The holding is excellent, so the anchorage is a viable if not ideal candidate as a place to ride out a cold front. During the winter months this is a very popular anchorage.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
