Great Guana Cay South
- Location: Southern Exumas
- Lat / Lon: N 23° 57.879' / W 076° 19.101'
- Depth: 7'-9'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
There is a strip of deep water along the shore of Great Guana Cay in front of the large, abandoned house. There is good holding and the protection from all directions except NW. Despite the openness to the NW the anchorage is a viable, although not ideal candidate for weathering a cold front because the shallow bar to the west of the anchorage attenuates the swells that can develop. The challenge with this anchorage is the very narrow entry that is best negotiated at high slack tide to provide the greatest margin of error.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
