Pierre Island
- Location: North Eleuthera
- Lat / Lon: N 25° 33.252' / W 076° 39.591'
- Depth: 8'-10'
- Tide: 2.0'-2.5'
- Description:
In settled conditions this is a secluded anchorage that is close to the coral heads of the Devils Backbone for those who would like to try their hand at fishing. In winds over 15 knots expect to find a swell that will increase as the wind increases in velocity. Once the wind approaches 20 knots from any direction, it is time to leave. There is some protection from the north, but it is exposed in all other directions and the holding is good if you take the time to find patches of sand. The bottom is mostly grass and sand over rock.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
