Nassau Harbour Eastern Anchorage

  The eastern anchorage is a narrow shelf of sand on the south side of the harbor east of the Nassau Harbour Club.  The anchorage is exposed to the east and is subject to a very strong reversing tidal current. The holding is only fair in this area and you should observe how your vessel behaves through an entire tide cycle before relaxing as a seemingly well-set anchor will pop loose on a tide change. The bottom is fouled with the remains of sunken boats and it is not uncommon to retrieve an anchor to find it wrapped in bits of wire, rope or other debris.
