- Description:
Cabbage Cay is a large rock that guards the entrance to the inner harbour of Little Harbour Cay. It has the distinction of being the nearest anchorage to Flo’s Conch Shack that can be accessed by vessels drawing more than 6'. There is decent wind protection from the NE but the anchorage is exposed in all other directions. Furthermore, in all but flat-calm conditions there will be a swell entering through the Little Harbour Cut. The holding is fair and as one seeks deeper water the minimal protection afforded by the cay decreases even further.
For larger or vessels drawing more than 6.5’, Cabbage Cay is acceptable as a fair-weather anchorage with the caveat that it is rarely completely calm.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
